You will often hear about the ban on a country by the big and powerful countries of the world, the UN and other institutions. On seeing these restrictions, this question must have arisen in your mind that a country which has its own land, which has its own government and which has its own law; After all, how can a country ban it?
the answer is yes. Think of it as if you live in a locality. There is a complaint in that locality that some women of the locality are molesting the girls here on the nearby road. Now some people of the locality complained about this to the local councilor. The member called a meeting and said that whoever is found doing this, they will not only be insulted collectively but their posters will also be put up everywhere.
Now look at another case-
There is a people in your locality Mr. K. Mr. K has everything, wealth and prestige. A boy from the locality is very shy to these Mr. K. One day in the evening without any reason, they started beating the boy at the crossroads that he had molested the girl. On saying this, many not only supported him, but the boy was also insulted collectively and his posters were also put up.
In the above two incidents the first restriction which was imposed by the councilor and his ward executive is an institutional ban. If you see it on a big canvas, then it sits like UN in nature. If we look at the unilateral restrictions imposed by Mr. A, then it fits like America in nature, which can be called grandeur in common parlance.
Now we understand how UN sanctions?
The UN has its own charter and there is an article in that charter- 39. Under this article, if there is a threat to the peace or security of any part of the world or any country is adopting an aggressive attitude, the United Nations Security Council may by a decision under Article 41, use of armed force without Can take the rest of the security measures in which the banned country can be cut off from the rest of the places by rail, sea, air.
In 1966, the United Nations Security Council issued a list of 30 types of sanctions that prohibited travel for travelers from those countries, including a ban on arms purchases by banned countries.
In addition, there are 14 UN-supported sanctions programs administered by a sanctions committee headed by non-permanent member states of the UN.
Now the question arises whether the UN cannot impose sanctions on Russia, then the answer is that it can. But Russia, being a permanent member of the Security Council, has the power of veto and will prohibit this ban.
Now let’s talk about the nature of sanctions imposed by America. The sanctions imposed by the US are completely unilateral. But these restrictions also have their own importance. The reason is that America is a powerful country and the rest of the country listens to what it says, obeys it. Since the dollar is a major currency in international transactions, apart from this, the world’s largest companies are from America and a lot of their investments are spread in other countries. In such a situation, the rest of the countries also consider the sanctions imposed by America.
Now the question arises whether the sanctions imposed by America are completely illegal? So the answer is no. Since the US is also a part of the World Trade Organization and other investment treaties like other countries. The provisions of these institutions include that you can stop business with any country for the sake of your self-defense and security.
In such a situation, America also justifies its sanctions by saying that these grounds are true.
