What is light pollution?

Light pollution is the phenomenon of excessive artificial light. It can occur during day Or
at night.


Why in news?


Several citizen scientists presented a report which tells the negative consequences of
the excessive light pollution.


What are the consequences?


It is observed that due to excessive lighting the natural light is affected. It is observed
that due to this impact many stars are becoming invisible year by year. This make it
difficult to research and study stars. For it there is increasing need of the satellites. If
this continues, there would be time when the night sky would be devoid of stars. Future
generation would see or stars as something like mammoth and dinosaurs are for us
today. The poems and songs that have descriptions of stars would be alien.

What needs to be done?
  1. Switching off light when nit required
  2. Utilize more and more natural light as possible.
  3. Targeted use of light.
    What are the impediments?
  4. Necessary for the road safety.
  5. Required to maintain law and order at night.
